Neil Patrick Harris to play ‘Riddler’ in DCEU?

After the announcement of DCEU in 2013 with Man of Steel, fans have been anticipating many DC villains to enter this newly formed Universe. While some of the main villains namely – Lex Luthor, Joker, Deadshot and possible Deathstroke in the upcoming ‘The Batman’ by Matt Reeves, have already made their debut (or are about to) another main baddy who has been teased but never really talked about is the ‘Riddler’. His presence was shown in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice in the final fight scene between Superman and Batman with question marks (?): Riddler’s signs on the pillars. But the character hasn’t been taken seriously till now.

According to a recent petition by Pat Monohan On, the smurf actor- Neil Patrick Harris- has been asked to play Riddler in this universe of DC. the petition has so far got 180 supporters and they’re increasing.

The actor without any doubt has got all the qualities one would expect from the character. And after a recent interview in which Harris said that he would be interested in playing a DC villain, people have gone crazy. People for many years have wished for different actors to play this role namely – Robin Williams, David Tennant and, most notably, Leonardo DiCaprio – but nothing’s come to fruition.

The Riddler (Edward Nigma) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly as an adversary of the superhero of Batman. The character made his first appearance in Detective Comics #140 (Oct. 1948) and was created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang.

The character has been portrayed by 2 actors so far, first by Frank Gorshin in the 1960s Batman film and then by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever. Neil can definitely fill their shoes in nailing the character. However, if Warner Bros. wants to take a serious and dark side for the character, we might have to reevaluate our choice.

What do you think?
