DC’s Black Label Debut

So yes, DC has not been doing great in their Cinematic universe but wait till you read this. DC Black Label is one of several new imprints in the works at DC. This series aims at the mature readers-focused stories. The stories are outside traditional DC continuity. Black Label officially begins in September as writer Brian Azzarello and artist Lee Bermejo. They plan to reunite on Batman: Damned. This dark tale teams Batman with John Constantine as the Dark Knight. It is said to make the plot which includes his struggles to understand who (or what) killed the Joker.

Wolverine Is Back (Finally)

As much as we wish Logan returns in the movies that’s not really happening. Wolverine originally returned from the dead back in Marvel Legacy #1 last year, and 12 months later readers will finally learn what his return means. This is stated to be significant for the future of the Marvel Universe. Return of Wolverine #1 kicks off a five-issue miniseries from the same creative team behind 2014’s Death of Wolverine. The writers are Charles Soule and artist Steve McNiven. All we know about the series so far is that Wolverine will be doing with the emergence of a strange new ability. Surely that’s not the only thing that’s changed in the four years he’s been gone.

Meet the Asgardians of the Galaxy

Marvel hasn’t published a dedicated Guardians of the Galaxy comic since Infinity Countdown kicked off. Well, that was forever ago. That doesn’t look to be changing as Infinity Countdown transitions into Infinity Wars. Though there seem to be Guardians of a different sort protecting the Marvel Universe. Asgardians of the Galaxy, from writer Cullen Bunn and artist Matteo Lolli, introduces an all-Asgardian version of the team that includes Valkyrie, Angela, Skurge, Throg, Thunderstrike and the Destroyer.

DC’s Heroes Have a New Crisis

A good news or perhaps a light of hope for DC fans. DC is starting a new Crisis-branded crossover storyline in September. This one is much more in the vein of Identity Crisis than Infinite Crisis. This would rather be a new miniseries. written by Tom King and artist Clay Mann introduces Sanctuary, a place where heroes can go to recover from the psychological pressures of the job.

Spider-Man PS4 Becomes Marvel Canon

Our neighborhood spidy has been gaining fame ever since Civil-War. Marvel has decided to launch him for Spidergeddon, a massive Spider-Man crossover. This could be a follow-up to 2014’s Spider-Verse. The core miniseries gets an early start in September with a number 0 issue. The writers are Christos Gage and artist Clayton Crain. But the biggest news here is that it focuses on the Peter Parker of the PlayStation 4 Spider-Man game. Here’s which makes everything exciting this character is officially becoming a part of the Marvel Comics multiverse. Rumors are this issue will even feature variant covers from several Insomniac artists.

Wonder Woman: Earth One Gets a Sequel

Mock all you want to the DCEU, but DC has been proven itself when it comes to comic world time and again. Wonder Woman: Earth One proved to be one of the more memorable additions to DC’s Earth One line of graphic novels. It offered a take that blended the character’s Golden Age roots with modern sensibilities. Apparently, the writers are back with a sequel. This time around, Diana learns that saving the world is a lot harder when you have to deal with governments and bureaucracy.

Thanos Wins Again

With the 2 Billion dollar movie, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has gotten more hype than anyone ever imagined. In the comic world, we adored Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s Thanos run, short as it was. Fortunately, it appears that Cates isn’t quite done with the Mad Titan. A new one-shot called Thanos Legacy #1 will team Cates with co-writer Gerry Duggan and artist Brian Level. This issue is meant to bridge the gap between “Thanos Wins” and the character’s role in Infinity Wars.
