A podcast in July by The Business has recently resurfaced through Reddit to all over the social media after a solo Joker movie was announced yesterday. The podcast guest – Matt Reeves who is supposed to be directing The Batman, said on The Business that – “When they approached me, what they said was, ‘Look, it’s a standalone. This isn’t part of the Extended Universe,'”  and this has made the fans go crazy. The DC lovers who weren’t still over with the idea of a new DC line of movies starting with a Joker origin movie cannot bear a load of another out of the universe movie just when they thought the things were getting back in the place.

But let’s just wait here and not let ourselves jump to conclusions. Let’s start with what Matt said in that podcast, he said that when the studios approached him they said that it’s a standalone and not part of the extended universe, and that actually doesn’t give us the whole picture if you think about it. If you have heard the podcast (go and hear it from 23:40 onwards if you haven’t) he seemed no way to mean that Batman wasn’t the part of the DCEU but they wanted it to be a standalone movie.

If you realise, Wonder Woman too wasn’t actually connected to the DC Extended universe. If you remove the first scene of the film which had a letter from Bruce Wayne (don’t flip out, I know what I am saying) the whole movie dealt with Diana and her journey, but now we know that they had a mother-box for very long, there was a war of Amazonians, forces of Darkseid and may be Atlantians, so why didn’t they even gave a glimpse or reference of that in the movie?

Even when you think about it, no matter how dumb or how bad you think DC and WB are, they aren’t dumb enough to pull off this kind of madness, especially when they have one of their biggest project release in 3 months. If they do so, this will simply take away the confidence of the audience in the franchise and will make them least interested in the future projects.

Also, there is a picture that has been going around by some of the optimistic fans in which the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 director James Gunn tells us about GOTG2 not being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but will just have a plot of its own.

So keeping all those things in mind, what we here want to say is that maybe Matt just wanted to say that The Batman movie may/will not feature any crossover characters like they did in Civil War or Batman v Superman but will have its own plot. Other heroes in the meantime will do their own things and will not interfere since we know how much Batman loves to work alone.

Do tell us your opinions on this and share this article with DC fan friends and ask them to be positive and have faith in Batman.
